RETURN AND EXCHANGE POLICY
Regular Priced Merchandise
Within 10 days of purchase, return your item to the store for a refund to your original method of payment. Within 21 days of purchase, exchange your item or receive a merchandise credit. After 21 days, we are no longer able to accept returns or exchanges.
Sale Merchandise
All sale and discounted items purchased in store are final sale.
Note: Items purchased at our Toronto retail store can only be returned or exchanged in-store. We're unable to process in-store purchases through the online returns flow or by mail.
Regular Priced Merchandise
Returns are accepted within 10 days of delivery for a refund to your original payment method, or within 21 days of delivery for store credit on an eGift Card. After 21 days, we are no longer able to accept returns.
When you start your return, choose how you'd like it processed:
- Store credit — issued as an eGift Card for the full value of your return. The card is redeemable online and in-store, and never expires.
- Refund — issued to your original method of payment. A $12 return shipping fee will be deducted from your refund.
We aren't able to offer exchanges online. To swap an item, return the original and place a new order — we'll process your refund or credit as soon as your return is received.
Sale Merchandise
Sale items are final sale unless otherwise indicated. No refunds or exchanges.
We work quickly to process and ship orders so they reach you faster. Once your order is placed, we are unable to make changes — including item swaps, size changes, or shipping address updates.

United States
If you're shipping to a US address, please use our US site at www.ownyourpermission.com.
Outside North America
We're currently pausing shipments outside Canada and the United States. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when international shipping resumes.
For all returns or exchanges:
- Items must be unworn, unwashed, and undamaged
- All original tags must be attached
- Shoes must be returned in their original box
- For online orders, include your order confirmation email or packing slip. For in-store purchases, present your receipt.
- Returns that arrive showing signs of wear, scent, alteration, pet hair, or other condition not meeting the above will be refused and returned to you at your cost
Final sale (Not eligible for return or exchange):
- Sale and discounted items
- Hosiery and intimates (for hygiene reasons)
- Hair accessories and hats
- Skincare, fragrances, and face & body tools (for hygiene and safety reasons)
- Candles and water bottles
Special categories
- Swimsuits are eligible for exchange only, provided the original tags and hygienic liner are intact and undisturbed.
- Gift-with-purchase (GWP) items are eligible for exchange or store credit only.
Damaged or defective items
If your order arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, email hello@ownyourpermission.com within 7 days of delivery with photos.
Gift Cards
Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash or refunded except where required by law. Items purchased with a gift card are refunded as merchandise credit back onto a gift card.
- Email hello@ownyourpermission.com with your order number and the item(s) you're returning. Let us know whether you'd like store credit or a refund.
- We'll send you a prepaid return label.
- Pack your return and ship it within 10 days of your delivery confirmation.
A $12 return shipping fee is deducted only if you choose a refund. Store credit returns are issued at full value with no fee.
Prefer to return in person?
Bring your order (along with your packing slip or order confirmation) to our Toronto store within 10 days of delivery for a refund, or within 21 days for store credit. We'll process it at the register. No fee, no label.
